Farmers & Merchants Bank is proud to be an independent community bank. The bank was chartered on April 15, 1908, as a state chartered bank in Timberville, VA and is the oldest banking business native to Rockingham County, VA.
We serve the Shenandoah Valley with nine conveniently located full-service branches, a network of ATM’s, and a wide variety of financial services including banking, investments, and insurance products. Both individuals and businesses find that our professional staff and up to date equipment provide the kind of responsive, knowledgeable, and reliable service that only a progressive community bank can.
Farmers & Merchants Bank has grown over the years to over $365 million in assets, and boasts 135 full and part-time employees. Our conservative approach to finances and sound investments, along with excellent customer service, has made us profitable and paves the way for a bright future.

Corp., incorporated in Virginia in 1983 as a one-bank holding company,
owns 100% of the outstanding stock of its two affiliates, Farmers
& Merchants Bank and TEB Life Insurance Company (a captive life
insurance company). Farmers & Merchants Financial Services,
Inc. (our investment division) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Farmers
& Merchants Bank.
